Description

This drawing depicts Sudan's military and the Janjaweed militia group attacking a village in Darfur. Some civilians had their heads covered with a sack before being shot dead. Some children had their hands tied and were thrown into a fire while a large number of girls and women were abducted and had their hands tied. Children were never spared and were even shot at point blank range. Villages were set on fire and the government used air planes and armored tanks to bomb them. In order to prevent civilians from escaping, militia men came on horseback and shot any villager they came across.

On the back of the physical drawing is Arabic text that translates to, " Throwing boy in fire. Name: Abdoul Jabbar Solimon Arbab. Age on the day of the attack: 9 years. Age at the day of drawing: 13 years. Covering head of man before shooting him."
