Shipping
With fifteen ports, four of them major (Miami, Tampa, Port Everglades and Jacksonville), Florida had grown into a shipping powerhouse during the 20th century. The feat is all the more impressive when one considers that few of those fifteen ports existed before 1900. The expansion of Florida's port capacity eased the exporting of local products while also supplying a growing population with goods and fuel.
