Description
Born in Crete, John Filippakis learned iconography from his older brother George. In the 1980s he moved to Palm Harbor so that his children could be immersed in Greek culture. He is active in the local chapter of the Pancretan Association, whose clubhouse he painted with Minoan-style murals. Filippakis follows many traditional practices in the creation of the icons. He has completed several churches in Florida, as well as in other states. In addition to painted icons, he creates beautiful mosaic images.
