Arn Chorn-Pond

Cambodian Survivor

After surviving the Khmer Rouge labor camps and a stint as a child soldier, Arn Chorn-Pond became a human rights activist who has founded numerous nonprofit organizations, including Children of War, Cambodian Volunteers for Community Development, and Cambodian Living Arts. He is a frequent speaker who has received numerous honors and awards. Chorn-Pond is also an accomplished flautist. He is the subject of the documentary The Flute Player, and was the inspiration for the opera Where Elephants Weep.
