Ben Kiernan

Professor, Yale University

Ben Kiernan is Whitney Griswold Professor of History at Yale University and Director of the Genocide Studies Program. He has been studying the Cambodian genocide since 1979, when he first began interviewing refugees who had fled from the Khmer Rouge. He is the author of numerous books and over 100 scholarly articles on Southeast Asia and the history of genocide, and his works have been translated into fourteen languages. Kiernan is a member of the editorial boards of Critical Asian Studies, Human Rights Review, and Zeitschrift für Genozidforschung.
