Thomas Buergenthal

Holocaust Survivor

Thomas Buergenthal is currently Lobingier Professor of Comparative Law and Jurisprudence at The George Washington University Law School. He has been a judge for the International Court of Justice and the Inter-American Court of Human Rights, and was a member of the United Nations Human Rights Committee. Buergenthal is considered one of the world's leading human rights experts and is the author of numerous books, essays, and articles. His memoir A Lucky Child details his experiences during the Holocaust, surviving two concentration camps, Auschwitz and Sachsenhausen.
